Nancy Hirschl, BS, CCS

Hirschl and Associates
Nancy Hirschl possesses 30 years of experience in the fields of health information and revenue management. As President and Founder of Hirschl and Associates, Nancy develops, administers, and manages services that address best practices in revenue integrity. Known as an innovator and leader, Nancy has developed and implemented:
- Hospital-based inpatient and outpatient revenue integrity consulting services,
- Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) consulting services
- Medicare Part C – Risk Adjusted data mining, auditing and training services,
- DRG, APC, and RAC data mining and tracking software, and
- Nationally celebrated training programs.
Hirschl and Associates, a privately owned corporation located in Southern California has extensive experience in RAC related issues including but not limited to Training, Organizational Deployment, Workflow Management, Database Management, Strategic Planning, Data Mining, Revenue/Risk Reporting, and RAC Auditing.
Nancy received her Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University and is a Certified Coding Specialist. She is a member of The American Health Information Management Association and The Healthcare Financial Management Association, Southern California chapter.

Lane Edenburn
Executive Vice President & General Counsel

Lane Edenburn brings more than 15 years healthcare industry experience
to the HealthDataInsights management team. As Executive Vice President
and General Counsel, Mr. Edenburn is responsible for the general legal
affairs of the company, including legal and corporate compliance,
statutory filings, contracts and human resources.
Mr. Edenburn also served as the Backup Project Director of HDI’s CMS
Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Demonstration Project. Mr. Edenburn
was involved with all facets of leadership, operations and oversight of
HDI’s RAC Demonstration contract from June 2005 until the
Demonstration’s March 2008 expiration, and worked with providers,
suppliers, CMS personnel, and other affected stakeholders. Mr.
Edenburn is responsible for drafting correspondence, interaction with
providers and suppliers, negotiating extended repayment plans; and
providing interpretation of local and national coverage decisions, the
RAC Demonstration Statement of Work, CMS payment, claims processing and
improper payment regulations; negotiating and drafting Joint Operating
Agreements with CMS contractors; and leadership of the HDI Rapid
Response Team. During the Demonstration period, HDI’s RAC team
identified the greatest number of improper payments of any
Demonstration Contractor.
Immediately prior to joining HDI, Mr. Edenburn served from February
2004 to June 2005 as the Branch Manager for Benefit Integrity (fraud
and abuse), Debt Management (Overpayments) and Medicare Secondary Payer
functions for the Region IX office of the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services (CMS) in San Francisco. While at CMS, Mr. Edenburn
was awarded a group CMS Administrator’s Achievement Award and the HHS
Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service for his role in leading the
Southern California Fraud Task Force, saving hundreds of millions of
dollars for the Medicare Trust Funds.

Stanley Padfield is the System Director of Health Information Management and the Patient Information Privacy Officer for Lee Memorial Health System. Lee Memorial Health System (LMHS) is a nationally recognized community health system - one of the 10 largest public health systems in the nation and is the leading provider of healthcare services in Southwest Florida and has served the citizens of Lee County and surrounding communities since 1916. LMHS is an integrated healthcare deliver network comprised of over 1400 acute care beds in 5 acute care facilities, 1 acute rehabilitation and children’s hospital, 40 owned physician practices, stand-a-lone outpatient facilities and a long term care facility.
Duties include the management of information regulations and standards for the system, interpretation, investigation and leadership for privacy practices and a member of the Information Services Leadership Team. He has ten years experience in the position and over 30 years experience in HIM.

Carol Richardson, MA, RHIA

Corporate Director, Health Information Management and Corporate Privacy
Official for Adventist Health, Inc. Adventist Health owns and manages
17 acute care facilities in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii,
14 of which are in California. Many years of health care industry
experience including acute care, hospital-based outpatient product
lines, behavioral health, managed care, compliance, interim management
and consulting. Received undergraduate and graduate degrees from University of Texas at Dallas.
Took on the role of Corporate RAC Coordinator for Adventist Health in
2006 and implemented an enterprise RAC activity data base, engaged
vendor assistance in review of potential RAC denials, and launched an
aggressive coding education program system-wide. Active participant in
the California Hospital Association RAC Workgroup and CHA Medical
Rehabilitation Service task force focusing on Inpatient Rehabilitation
RAC activity.
