HealthPort Achieves SAS 70 Completion Providing Its Customers With A Deeper Level of Security and Peace of Mind

Alpharetta, GA, February 28, 2011:
HealthPort, an industry authority in the secure and expedient transfer of protected health information and audit management technology, today announced its completion of a service auditor’s examination with the recent issuance of a final Type I Service Auditor’s Report performed by an independent third-party auditing firm in accordance with SAS No. 70 (“SAS 70 Audit”).

The SAS 70 Audit provides information about control objectives and activities, including controls over information technology and related processes. HealthPort’s SAS 70 Type I report contains a description of those controls and the auditor’s evaluation that these controls are suitably designed and placed in operation at December 31, 2010.

With the issuance of a SAS 70 Type I report, HealthPort will now begin the rigorous testing required to obtain a SAS 70 Type II report which will include detailed testing of HealthPort’s internal controls over a minimum six month period to verify controls are operating effectively. “The integrity of our information technology’s security and compliance platform is very crucial to our business operations and reputation, said Gene Guertin, Chief Information Officer, HealthPort. “By achieving SAS 70 completion, we are taking our focus on security to the next level by demonstrating that we have effective internal controls in place to securely transmit PHI.”
